714 Ninth Street, Crested Butte
This project was done for a local couple who wanted a very efficient house. The insulation methods were based on Building Science principles. The entire house was wrapped with 2″ of ridgid foam and then the framed walls were also insulated. The roof was insulated with cellulose. At the time this house was built it was one of the best insulated houses in Crested Butte.
All of the siding is reclaimed douglas fir.
The design of the house (done by End Of The Road Construction) incorporated as much passive solar as the town’s historic building restrictions allowed. The house also has active PV solar panels that provide a substantial portion of the residents’ electric needs.
There are many great interior features in the house including bamboo floors, excellent tile work, a beautiful kitchen, a stairway with bamboo treads and onyx risers and plenty of custom woodwork.
To provide fresh air this house has a Heat Recovery Ventilator. This is a standard feature in all the houses we build.
